Madoro

Madoro / Last updated: 13 September 2026Madoro does not know who you are. There are no accounts and no sign-in, and the face you make, the parts you collect and your bond level all stay on your device. From version 1.1, the app sends a record of which features are being used, in a form that carries no name (section 2 below). You can switch it off in Settings.1. What we do not collectMadoro never obtains or transmits any of the following:Personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
Location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone — the app never asks for these permissions
Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any other tracking identifier. The app never shows the "Ask App Not to Track" prompt
The drawings you make. Not one stroke position, shape, colour or width leaves your device
The names you give saved faces, or which specific parts you own
Crash logs or diagnostics
Advertising. The app contains no advertising SDK2. Usage measurementTo learn which features are used and where the app stops working, we use an analytics service called TelemetryDeck. What the app itself sends is the following. Separately from this, the analytics service attaches items of its own — see "attached automatically" below.Whether the widget is on your home screen, how many, and at which size
How far you got through the intro, and which button you finished on
How a drawing session ended — roughly how many strokes, and which of the eyes and mouth were drawn in. Never the drawing itself
Roughly how many parts you own, your bond level, how many moves you have found, how many faces you have saved, your liveliness setting, and which language the app is displayed in
Whether a purchase or a restore succeeded or failed, and for which product (never the amount, the currency, or the transaction number)
Whether the widget's shared storage opened, and whether the last tap was answered
Roughly how long ago the app was installed — a band, not a timestamp. Separately from this, the analytics service attaches an exact calendar date of its own; see "attached automatically" belowEvery one of these is one of a fixed set of options. Nothing you typed or drew can end up in them.On top of that, the analytics service attaches the following to every record automatically. We did not choose these and we cannot switch them off individually. In September 2026 we re-examined what the app actually sends and added the items we had not written down here before.About your device
Model, CPU architecture (for example arm64), and iOS version
The screen's width and height in points, and the display scale factor — multiply the two for the pixel size
The time zone the device is set to (for example UTC+9)About the app
The version and build number of Madoro
Whether this is the App Store build, a TestFlight build, or a development build
The version of the analytics component (the SDK) itselfDisplay settings
Language and region, screen orientation, whether dark mode is on, and text direction
Accessibility settings (text size, bold text, reduce motion, reduce transparency, invert colours, increase contrast, differentiate without colour)When the record was sent
Day of the week, day of the month, day of the year, week of the year, month, quarter, hour, and whether it was a weekday or the weekend. Put together, these give the exact date the record was sent. How much the app is used
An identifier created fresh each time the app is launched (a session ID). It is not stored on your device, and the next launch produces a different one
The exact calendar date the analytics service puts in its "first use" field — year, month and day, not a band. Madoro does not store an install date, so what actually lands in that field is the date the record was sent. This is a different thing from the "roughly how long ago the app was installed" item above
How many times the app has been opened in total, on how many distinct days, on how many distinct days in the last 30, the average length of a session, and the length of the previous sessionWe had set the option in the analytics service that we believed switched the session-length measurement off. It does not switch it off. Neither the session-length measurement nor the counts of sessions and days used are stopped by that option — all of them are still sent, as listed above. We assumed the option's name matched what it did, and we were wrong. We are recording that here.Note also that the analytics service attaches some of the same values twice, under both an older and a newer name. That is duplication of what is listed above, not additional information.Of everything above, the accessibility settings can relate to how well you see. They are handled the same way as everything else — in a form that cannot be traced back to you, never for advertising. Turning the setting off stops all of these too.We cannot tell who sent it
The only part of these records that stands for "who" is a single string. It is a value Apple issues per device, per developer, combined with a salt used only by Madoro and put through SHA-256 once on your device. Neither we nor TelemetryDeck can in practice work back from that string to the original value or to a person. It is not connected to your name, your contact details, or your Apple Account
The salt belongs to Madoro alone and will not be changed — changing it would replace everyone's string and cut the record in two. We added the salt in version 1.3.0. Records sent before that version are not connected to records sent after it
The Apple value underneath does not change while any app from the same developer is still installed on the device (per Apple's documentation). So deleting Madoro and installing it again can give you back the same string. This page previously promised that reinstalling always produces a different value. That promise does not hold, and we withdraw it.
What the string allows is counting records that came from the same device as one group — nothing more. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not match it against any outside data. Because the salt is Madoro's alone, our other apps produce a different string, so nothing can show that the same person uses two of them
IP addresses are not stored — not in the database, not in logs. Only the country is derived from the connection
The servers are in the Netherlands and Germany
Each kind of record has a daily and monthly cap, so the same thing is never sent over and over
It is used for one thing: deciding what to change about Madoro. Never for advertising, and never to personalise what you seeHow to turn it off
Turn off Settings → Privacy → Send usage data and nothing further is sent — the analytics service is not even started. We do not ask you why. However, what has already been sent cannot be withdrawn afterwards, for the reason above: we cannot tell which records were yours.3. What is stored on your deviceThe following is stored only on your device, in storage shared between the app and its widget. None of it is sent anywhere.Your face design (parts, colours, personality) and any faces you save
The drawings you make
Parts and boxes you own, and your coin and ticket balances
Your bond level, poke count and streak, and the moves you have discovered
Your liveliness setting, and whether you have seen the intro
A local record of widget refreshes, kept on the device to help diagnose problems
A note of what section 2 last sent and when, so that it is not sent twice, and your "Send usage data" setting
Deleting the app removes all of it. We keep no copy, because we never received one.4. In-app purchasesAll purchases of coins and boxes are handled by Apple's App Store (StoreKit).Payment details such as card numbers are handled by Apple. We never receive them
What we receive from Apple is aggregated sales reporting — counts and amounts. It does not tell us who bought anything
Restore Purchases (Settings → Restore Purchases) asks Apple about purchases tied to your Apple Account. That request goes to Apple5. When you open this pageOpening the Terms of Use, this Privacy Policy, or the contact page from inside the app leaves an ordinary web-server access record (IP address, browser type, timestamp) on the server that hosts these pages. This is standard web-server behaviour and is not used to identify individuals.6. ChildrenMadoro is rated 4+. There are no accounts and no communication between users. Information that could identify a person — name, contact details, photos, location — is collected from nobody, at any age.The usage records in section 2 are treated the same way at every age: only in a form that cannot be traced to a person, and never for advertising. A parent or guardian can turn them off in Settings → Privacy.7. Sharing with third partiesWe hold nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing of that kind to share. The usage records in section 2 are processed by TelemetryDeck on our behalf. They handle them for analytics only and for no other purpose. They are shared with no one else.8. Network activityMadoro connects to the network in only three situations:Processing purchases, fetching prices, and restoring purchases (with Apple)
Sending the usage records in section 2 (not at all if you have switched them off)
Opening this page, the Terms of Use, or the contact page
The widget — the square on your home screen — makes no connections of any kind. The app makes no other outbound connections.9. Changes to this policyIf this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will also be announced inside the app.10. ContactProvider: Madoro
